Automagic Vending
A fantasy vending machine simulator where you deliver potions to passing adventurers. Then melt the coins down into something more powerful (and profitable).
Features a small 3 level story that takes around 15 minutes to complete. Also includes quick play and an endless mode.
Made for Into the Game Jam - Summer 2024 to learn GB Studio. The theme for the jam was "The Alchemy of a Coin".

this is really fun to play!
with the three light up things above the aether mote I thought it could only hold three at a time, so I was holding up coins on the table to not waste them. realized that's not how it works after the first level though, but it could be clearer
Oo I totally thought the same thing hahaha
Yeah the aether tracker & coin tray were really not obvious! In retrospect, they should probably just be binary states - do you have some of the resource or not.
It seemed like getting a proper counter in GB Studio was going to be tricky, so I abandoned that idea for the jam. This is why the timer is just an actor that slowly walks across the screen on top of a static background rather than a proper countdown!
Really fantastic! And honestly if you work on it a little longer you probably have a "full game" on your hands here, it's really satisfying to play! Love the art and presentation, love the gameplay loop.
It's so funny, in the first level I was like "Pfff, too easy!" and then as soon as the second level started, I laughed when I suddenly remembered "oh wait, now I have to pay special close attention to which potion they're ordering or I'll forget!" Such a simple and fun way to make it harder.

This is WONDERFUL. Really just a lovely game, I had loads of fun with it. Looks and plays really well and a really addictive loop.
